Kids and Youth Program

Changing the Future for Young People with Kidney Disease

When you take part in the Kidney Kar Rally, you’re not just joining an incredible adventure,  you’re helping transform lives. Every kilometre you drive and every dollar you raise directly supports Kidney Health Australia’s Kidney Health 4 Youth program, giving children and young people living with kidney disease the support they need to live with confidence, connection and hope.

Where Your Support Goes:
Kidney Health 4 Youth
Empowering young people navigating kidney disease

Kidney Health 4 Youth is a national program designed specifically for children, teenagers and young adults living with kidney disease.  The program helps young people build meaningful connections, understand and manager their kidney health, and confidently transition from peadiatric renal care to adult health care - so they're not facing kidney disease alone.

Your fundraising helps deliver:
🎒 Fun social activities
Events like the Kidney Kid Es-Caper events are designed to bring kidney kids and their families together to share valuable experiences, create lifelong friendships and have fun at the same time.

💬 Peer Connection
Connection is vital for overall health and wellbeing. Your support ensures young people living with kidney disease can meet others who truly understand what they’re going through.

📚Education & Resources
Kidney Health 4 Youth provides simple, engaging tools to young people — and their families — so they can better understand kidney disease and take an active role in managing their health.

🌟 Support through life’s big transitions
Our inspiring group of Youth Ambassadors mentor kidney kids through every stage of the journey including the transition from paediatric renal care to adult health care.
Why It Matters
Kidney disease can affect everything from school and friendships to travel, sport, independence and mental health.
  • Many young people spend months each year in hospital or travelling long distances for treatment.

  • Your support creates moments of freedom, connection and joy — and helps young people feel less alone.

Your Impact Is Real
Every donation and every kilometre in the Rally helps a young person:

✔ Feel supported
✔ Build confidence
✔ Stay connected
✔ Navigate treatment with dignity
✔ Look toward a brighter future

Meet our Kidney Kids

Meet Rezwan - Youth Champion

Rezwan was just two when he was diagnosed with kidney failure. Born with chronic kidney disease, he spent three years on dialysis after one kidney was removed and the other began to fail. Life became challenging — travelling, studying and keeping up with friends wasn’t easy.

Thanks to a life-saving transplant, Rezwan now enjoys a healthy, active life. When he could no longer play soccer, he discovered badminton, joined his local club and even won medals at the Transplant Games.

After attending Kidney Kids Camp, Rezwan is now a proud Youth Champion, raising awareness and showing other young people with kidney disease that they’re not alone and a bright future is possible.

Meet Isabelle & Charlotte - Kidney Kids

Sisters Isabelle and Charlotte both live with chronic kidney disease. Isabelle was diagnosed at just six weeks old, and Charlotte within her first 24 hours of life. Both have spent long stretches in hospital, sometimes up to eight weeks at a time, making everyday life — work, holidays and social plans — incredibly challenging for their family.

Despite this, the girls remain brave and hopeful as they look toward future transplants. Kidney Kids Camp and Es-Capers have become highlights of their year, giving them joy, connection and something special to look forward to during hospital stays.

Their mum, Renee, says these programs make a real difference: “Living with kidney disease is really difficult, and the support from Kidney Health Australia helps us actually be able to live a life.”
