BREAS RED SOCKS RUN FOR KIDNEY HEALTH

This October, I’m taking part in the Red Socks Run to raise funds and awareness for those living with chronic kidney disease. 

This fundraiser asks us to walk, run or ride 60km for the month of October to raise awareness for the 60 hours dialysis patients spend per month strapped to a machine that filters their blood as their kidneys cannot  

I am challenging myself to walk and run at least 400km for the month of October. 

I am truly inspired by my mum who has battled the last 12 months with complex health issues including multiple organ failure and in particular kidney failure. She has had challenges with dialysis and while I’m so grateful she is still here with me when I was told multiple times she won’t make it, it’s been heartbreaking to watch her battle out kidney failure and endless dialysis appointments that have definitely been life altering. She is currently on the waiting list for a kidney transplant.
