Chrissy's 60km for 60 Hours: Moving in Red Socks for Kidney Health

This October, I’m showing up for every renal unit, every patient, and every family affected by kidney disease — walking 60km in 24 hours to honour the 60 hours a month someone spends on dialysis.

There are over 15,000 Australians currently on dialysis, and that number is growing. That’s why I’m stepping up and walking in red socks again this year — to raise urgent awareness, funds, and hope for a future without dialysis.

This isn’t just a fundraiser for me — it’s personal.

I was just 4 when doctors found problems with my kidneys. By 5, I had my first surgery. At 10, I was diagnosed with high blood pressure. After complications during pregnancy, I lost my right kidney 16 years ago. Today, I live with stage 4 kidney disease and just one kidney functioning at 30%.

Despite the setbacks, I’ve chosen to turn my journey into strength — walking with purpose, singing with hope, and bringing our community together to support Kidney Health Australia.

In 2024, I walked 66km in two days and raised over $6000. This year, I’m taking it to the next level: 60km in 24 hours at the Walking in Red Socks for Kidney Health 24HR Community Relay Walkathon in Sarina, QLD.

Every dollar raised, every kilometre logged, every step we take brings us closer to a future without dialysis.
