My Red Socks Run for Kidney Health
This October, I’m showing up for every renal unit, every patient and moving towards a future without dialysis.
There are over 15,000 Australians on dialysis, and that number is rising. That’s why urgent action is needed now - to slow the progression and ultimately stop it.
Every dollar raised, every km logged, every step we take brings us closer to a future without dialysis.
Join me to honour the 60hrs a month someone spends on dialysis and together we can Move for them and Move for change!
Please donate to support a better future for people with kidney disease.
A story about my journey so far.
Three years ago, my life changed forever. Kidney disease became my reality, and dialysis became my lifeline. It’s a journey I never expected, but one I’ve learned to walk with strength, resilience, and a deep sense of purpose.
I’m a father of three. I work full time. And I live with a chronic illness that demands more from me than most people ever see. Dialysis isn’t just a treatment it’s a commitment. It takes hours out of my week, drains my energy, and forces me to constantly adapt. But I do it. Not just for myself, but for my kids. For my family. For the life I’m determined to keep living.
There are days when I feel exhausted before the day even begins. Days when I miss out on moments with my children because I’m hooked up to a machine. Days when I wonder how long I can keep this up. But then I remember why I fight. I fight for them, for school drop-offs, for weekend laughs and quiet dinners. I fight to be present, even when it’s hard.
My family has been my anchor. Their love, patience, and support carry me through the toughest days. They’ve seen me at my lowest and lifted me back up. They remind me that I’m more than a patientI’m a dad, a partner and a man with a story worth sharing.
That’s why I’m raising awareness. Kidney disease is invisible to many, but it affects millions. Dialysis is life-saving, but it’s also life-changing. I want people to understand the reality behind the treatment the emotional toll, the sacrifices, and the strength it takes to keep going.
This blog is my way of speaking up. Of showing others they’re not alone. Of reminding myself and anyone reading that even in the hardest moments, there is hope, there is purpose, and there is life beyond the diagnosis.
