Our Red Socks Run for Kidney Health.
Project Nephros is an ambitious, student-led initiative dedicated to transforming the future of artificial renal replacement therapies. Our multidisciplinary team of 20 highly driven students—spanning engineering, biomedical science, and medicine—represents some of the most talented emerging minds in Australia.
We have initiated the project with a comprehensive literature review, systematically categorising key insights to inform and accelerate the design of next-generation renal replacement solutions. Our immediate focus is on optimising and innovating existing dialysis therapies, with an emphasis on sustainability, patient outcomes, and quality of life.
A core aim of Project Nephros is to adapt expanded hemodialysis (HDx) for a more compact, home-based use—minimising the psychological burden of hospital-based treatments and alleviating pressure on healthcare infrastructure. By enabling patients to undergo treatment in the comfort of their own homes, we strive to promote both autonomy and emotional well-being.
Please join us in donations to support a better future for patients with renal impairment.
