Our Red Socks Run for Kidney Warriors
This October, we are showing up for every Kidney Warrior and the people in their circles that support and care for them to help achieve our shared goal of bringing an end to dialysis by 2050 through education, awareness and advocacy.
Today’s statistics tells us that:
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people account for around 10,000 of the over 160,000 Australians living with CKD.
This reflects the significantly higher prevalence of CKD in Indigenous populations compared to the general Australian population, with a rate that is 3 to 5 times higher.
Sadly these numbers are expected to grow, as CKD rates among Indigenous Australians are heavily influenced by high rates of diabetes, hypertension, and other risk factors, compounded by socio-economic barriers to accessing healthcare.
Every dollar raised, every km logged, every step we commit ourselves to taking brings us closer to a future without dialysis.
Join The Collective SA as we celebrate and honour our very own Kidney Warrior, Ms Rhanee Lester to raise awareness around the 60hrs a month someone like her has spent on dialysis and together we can Move for them and Move for change!
Please donate to support a better future for people with kidney disease.
