Ada Gibbons - Our 'Why'
This October, @mickgibbbons and I
will be taking part in @kidneyhealth Australia’s
Red Socks Run. Together, we’re aiming to run 300+km across the month.
As many of you know, since birth Ada has been under the care of the incredible
Paediatric Urology team at the Royal Children’s Hospital. While she doesn’t
require dialysis right now, her journey means it’s likely she will join the one
kidney club in the future. That’s a daunting reality as parents, but one we’re
deeply grateful for, because living with one healthy kidney is still so much
brighter than a life tied to dialysis.
Dialysis is life-saving, but it also means hours every single week hooked up to
a machine, with an enormous impact on quality of life, not just for the person
undergoing treatment, but for their whole family. That’s why the work Kidney
Health Australia does is so close to our hearts: raising awareness, supporting
families like ours, and helping create a future with better outcomes for kids
like Ada.
