Red Socks Challenge 2026

My Red Socks Challenge for Kidney Health

In 2026, I was diagnosed with Stage 2, Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) while also waiting on a diagnosis of a rare autoimmune disease that affects the kidneys called IGA Nephropathy. IGA Nephropathy is notoriously hard to diagnose until the disease is more advanced, and on average 4 in every 10 people with the disease may develop kidney failure, eventually requiring either dialysis or a transplant.

Those who require dialysis spend around 60 hours every month connected to a machine.

This October, I have committed to the Red Socks Challenge, to stand with other Australians living with kidney disease.

I will be taking on 60km in October to honour the hours spent on dialysis - raising awareness and helping fund better care. The type of care I may eventually need.

I appreciate any donations that will go towards supporting a better future for people with kidney disease.
