My Red Socks Run for Kidney Health

This October, the IgA nephropathy community their family and friends are showing up for every renal unit, every patient and moving towards a future without dialysis.

There are over 15,000 Australians on dialysis, and that number is rising. That’s why urgent action is needed now - to slow the progression and ultimately stop it.

Every dollar raised, every km logged, every step we take brings us closer to a future without dialysis.

Join me to honour the 60hrs a month someone spends on dialysis and together we can Move for them and Move for change!

Please donate to support a better future for people with kidney disease.

My Updates

I've done it!

Saturday 25th Oct
This note is to let you know I've reached the target of 60kms walking for Kidney Health Australia. I've surprised myself too!

I want to thank each and every one of you for supporting me and the team I'm in of IgA Nephropathy Warriors. You've helped me raise over $1,100 and together we have raised over $4000 now.

This means that KHA will be able to tackle the challenge of ending the need for people to go on dialysis by 2050. And it's a massive undertaking when you think of the number of stories of GP's missing opportunities to identify kidney disease in their patients, and that right now, there is no cure, the best you can hope for is to slow the progression of chronic kidney disease. Even transplants only last an average of 10 years then you're back on dialysis. Imagine needing your first transplant as a child? It happens more than we hear about.

There has to be a better way, and money for the research is essential.

So I cant thank you enough for your support for this cause, which is, for obvious reasons, very close to my heart (and kidneys lol). 💚💚💚💚💚💚

Getting close...

Sunday 19th Oct
Hi everyone,

Just wanted to send a huge thanks to everyone who has donated to KHA as part of my red socks run appeal. I've updated my target- again - after hitting the $1,000 mark - a personal best.

Today I got 2.4kms closer to the 60km target, walking a lovely suburban track that would gave you thinking you were in the middle of the forrest. There was a lovely creek bed and a few little bridges to cross. Thanks Leah for walking together. I captured a photo for our efforts.

Just 4kms to go. And all my own kms, thanks to my week away in Merimbula, getting my treatments on the KHA Big Red Kidney Bus.
