Red Socks Run 2025

My Red Socks Run for Kidney Health

This October, I’m showing up for every renal unit, every patient and moving towards a future without dialysis.

There are over 15,000 Australians on dialysis, and that number is rising. That’s why urgent action is needed now - to slow the progression and ultimately stop it.

Every dollar raised, every km logged, every step we take brings us closer to a future without dialysis.

Join me to honour the 60hrs a month someone spends on dialysis and together we can Move for them and Move for change!

Please donate to support a better future for people with kidney disease.

Happy Cake Day

Sunday 7th Sep
9 years on and “cake day” looks a little different this year! No matter where we all are, there is a cake for each year and gratitude in abundance.

If you’ve wondered what the gift of organ donation really looks like… it’s this.

TIME.

Graduations and birthdays, holidays, sports events, relocations and plenty of challenges,  but we were lucky enough to face all together, all because of the selfless gifts of others.

All the more fitting that 9 cakes falls on Father’s Day this year…

Justin’s first transplant was one of his Dads kidneys. A gift that meant he could finish uni, start work and build a pretty wonderful life with our three amazing kids.

9 years ago Justin’s second transplant came from someone we will never know, but whom we will never forget.

As the tired but confident surgeon told me nine ago… things look good - but nothing is ever promised. If youve got things you want to do…  go do them!

Happy cake day. ❤️

Run to raise awareness

Thursday 4th Sep
I am a kidney transplant recipient (x2).

December 1st this year will be the 25th anniversary of my first transplant which was from a live donor….my dad. I was
19 and it was this transplant from my Dad, that enabled me to finish university, build a career, create a family and live life, all without the need to dedicate hours each week to dialysis.

In 2015 I became unwell again and my ‘new’ kidney was slowing down. Embarking on peritoneal dialysis for over 2  years was challenging for my young family, though afforded the opportunity to continue living and loving life.

It was September 6th 2016 when the my nephrologist told me ‘transplant or heamo - you’ve got two weeks to decide’. The next morning, we got the call….a deceased donor kidney that matched to me!

My family celebrate every year on Sept 7, we also take time each year to consider that another family lost a loved one on that same day. That family made an informed choice that positively altered the direction of my family’s lives that day.

Participating in the Red Socks Run during October for me is about raising awareness not only about kidney disease but about organ donation.

It’s the conversation that matters most
