Our Red Socks Run for Kidney Health.
This October, we're going to Red Socks Run like a life depends on it.
By running 60km each we want to raise awareness of the 60hrs that kidney disease patients need to spend on dialysis each month.
I (Olivia) have been in the care of a Nephrologist for one year now after a medical for work displayed proteinuria in my urinalysis sample. I am one of the lucky ones - I am only in stage one, which means I can get a head start on treatment and slow the progress. Most people do not show any visible symptoms until later stages, which by then the kidneys are deteriorating at a faster rate.
