Our beautiful son, although perfect in every other way was unfortunately diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) after a few days of being born. This was as a result of a Posterior Urethral Valve that had to be corrected in his first few weeks of life via surgery.
Alby spent a few weeks in hospital and we were eventually able to bring him home to join his family to start our kidney journey.
Luckily for now for, our little man is kicking some goals we didn’t believe could be possible for him at this stage in his life. Alby will need to receive a Kidney Transplant when he is big enough, and dialysis if his kidney function worsens prior to this.
We are wanting to now, after some time with our loved ones to process what all of this means to share this with the world and spread awareness for kidney health and do our part to help support others living with this disease.
There are over 25,000 people in Australia living with kidney failure. There is no cure. Dialysis or a kidney transplant are needed to stay alive.
