My Red Socks Run for Kidney Health.
This October, I’m going to Red Socks Run like a life depends on it.
By running, walking or riding 60km I want to raise awareness of the 60hrs that kidney disease patients need to spend on dialysis each month.
Please donate to my page to raise funds for research into life-saving treatments, and provide support to the families of the 63 Australians that lose their life each day to kidney related diseases.
YOU can make a difference – Join me and help create a future where kidney health is a priority for all Australians.

My StoryTuesday 6th Sep
I have had type 1 Diabetes since I was 10 (28 yrs) I don’t know any different, but I have routine blood test to make sure everything is on track.
This May 2022 I had my routine blood test, I was called that evening and told to go to go to emergency straight away as I was very sick. I didn’t understand as I felt fine, I had no symptoms that anything was wrong.
When I arrived the kidney specialist advised me I had 10% kidney function. I spent 10 days in hospital, having many tests and a biopsy of my kidney. It was confirmed through years of diabetes 90% of my kidney function was unable to be saved.
By July 2022, I started dialysis. I go 3 times a week between 2.30-8pm. Its exhausting, this treatment is hard on my body.
I am on the transplant list to have a kidney and pancreas transplanted in 18-24mths. I will need to stay close to Westmead hospital for approx. 2months.
The Kidney Foundation:They provide a counselling service, provides education to prevent this from happening to someone else, provide the accommodation to patients and families after the transplant and helps raise fund for research that could improve treatment and on day find a cure for kidney disease.
