The Kidney Crew

Red Socks Challenge 2026

The kidney crew

We are a team of renal healthcare professionals taking on the Red Socks Challenge this October ❤️🧦

Every day, we have the privilege of caring for people living with kidney disease and seeing firsthand the strength, resilience and courage it takes to live with dialysis.

For many people with kidney failure, haemodialysis means spending around 60 hours every month connected to a dialysis machine.

So this October, we're taking on 60km to honour those 60 hours.

Every kilometre we complete is for our patients, their families, and the thousands of Australians whose lives are affected by kidney disease.

We may work beside the dialysis chairs, but our patients are the ones doing the hard yards — treatment after treatment, week after week. This challenge is our way of standing alongside them.

Together, we're raising awareness and funds to support better kidney care and a better future for people living with kidney disease.

❤️ 60km for 60 hours.
🧦 For our patients. For their families. For a better future in kidney care.

Please support our team by donating, sharing our page, or cheering us on throughout October. Every kilometre and every contribution counts.

Why we are pulling on the red socks

Sunday 30th Aug
This October, our team of dialysis nurses from Joondalup Health Campus Renal unit in partnership with Sir Charles Garnier Hospital is taking on the Kidney Health Australia Red Socks Run to raise awareness and funds for Australians living with kidney disease.
For us, this challenge is especially meaningful.

Every day, we care for people whose lives revolve around dialysis. For many, haemodialysis means spending around 60 hours every month connected to a dialysis machine, not including the travel, appointments, procedures and challenges that come with living with kidney disease.

That is why we are taking on 60 km throughout October.

Each kilometre represents an hour spent on dialysis and is our way of standing alongside the patients and families we have the privilege of caring for.

As renal nurses, we see much more than dialysis treatments. We see the courage, resilience, humour and determination of people who continue living their lives while managing a chronic and life-changing illness.

This October, we’ll be wearing our red socks proudly and getting those kilometres in together, all while raising funds to support Kidney Health Australia and help create a better future for people affected by kidney disease.

Every donation, share and word of encouragement makes a difference.
60 hours. 60 kilometres. One team standing with the kidney community.

Thank you for supporting our team!
