This special day is held in memory of Greg Allen to raise funds for cancer research, Greg passed away from Kidney cancer at the age of 75 in December 2024.
One of Greg's final wishes was for a charity day to be arranged in his honour to bring friends and family together to raise some money for cancer research and enjoy the game he loved.
A little bit about kidney cancer:
Kidney cancer is a type of cancer that starts from the cells of the kidney. It is relatively rare, accounting for only 2-3 of every 100 people with cancer in Australia.
Worldwide, more than 100,000 people die of kidney cancer each year. More than 3000 people are diagnosed with kidney cancer in Australia each year.
Survival from kidney cancer has increased greatly over time. Improved outcomes are due largely to increases in the detection and survival of early-stage renal cell carcinoma, the most common form of kidney cancer.
Any donation big or small will be greatly appreciated to raise awareness and be put towards the Kidney Health Australia free Helpline, critical research, or mobile dialysis service.
Thanks to all for the money raised at The Challenge Cup, Fight against cancer in memory of Greg Allen. The amount contains all the money collected on the day from the entry fee donation, charity hole donation and raffle tickets donations.
