My Red Socks Run for Kidney Health
I'm doing this for Lennox my son and all the other people suffering from CKD and kidney related issues. I will be walking, running and riding 150kms over October and I hope to raise $500. (So far I have done 171kms & raised $137)
Lennox, my 5 year old son was diagnosed with chronic Kidney disease at the age of 3. We took him to the hospital on boxing day 2022, before his 4th birthday he had 15 procedures, including, pyeloplasty, deflux, multiple emergency surgeries after his bowel shut down and abdomen filled up with free fluid and multiple infections. It's been a hard couple of years for Lennox, he was on antibiotics for over a year, he now has bladder issues that we need to go to the royal children's hospital in Brisbane to have tests done, he is on laxatives every day which means he poos his pants sometimes up to 4 times a day, which is really hard for him and he feels embarrassed. He also had an underlying infection in his foot when he was 2 years old which resulted in 4 surgeries, we didn't know at the time but it was a result of his kidney disease. He only has one kidney now, which still has issues, but we are so thankful for the amazing surgeons, doctors and Nurses at GCUH & Tweed hospital.

My wife and I wish you and your son all the best (and the rest of your family). While we don’t have kids ourselves, our first daughter is due in 8 weeks, scary and exciting we never think something like this will happen to your own and hope the donations will ease a difficult time.
