My Red Socks Walk for Kidney Health
This October, I’m participating in the Red Socks Run as if my life depends on it. My dad was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) in 2002 and two and a half years ago, his life drastically changed and he had to begin dialysis due to kidney failure. He is on the transplant list and is patiently waiting however the wait could be a long one. In the meantime, he spends countless hours in the hospital on hemodialysis, and the rest of his days feeling drained, both physically and mentally. The disease is relentless, wearing him down, and the mental toll is just as devastating as the physical one.
By walking 200 KM this month I hope to raise awareness about the 60 hours every month that people with kidney disease spend on dialysis—time that could be spent living life. Your donation will help fund critical research into life-saving treatments and provide support for individuals and families navigating the harsh realities of kidney failure.
Together, we can shine a light on the daily physical and mental struggles patients endure and work toward a future where kidney health is a priority for everyone. Please join me in this fight—you can make a difference.
