My Red Socks Run for Kidney Health
Kidney health is very dear to my heart
This October I’ll be running, swimming and walking 100km to raise awareness for kidney disease
As many of you will know, my mum was diagnosed with kidney failure in 2009
In that time she’s battled through an unimaginable journey
From 100s of hours spent in hospital dialysis centres to building our own one at home, shes faced every possible mishap and complication along the way
Last June, after 14 !!!! years on the transplant list mum received a donated kidney which has kept her off dialysis for the past 15 months. Unfortunately, her new kidney is now shutting down too
As she prepares both mentally and physically to spend her time in the dialysis unit again, I feel that it’s crucial to use her story and my own experiences to spread awareness for kidney health
Any donations are greatly appreciated and will go towards helping those dealing with kidney disease
