Red Sock Run for Kristin - Kidney Disease
This October, I’m going to Red Socks Run as life depends on it.
My best friend! Kristin, we met at Lethbridge Primary school in grade 1 & have been in contact, inseparable, besties everyday ever since!
The day before my 40th birthday party, after only celebrating hers 2 months before she told me she was in hospital. Something to do with her kidneys! We are worries type of people so that was fine! Hurry up & pass your kidney stone because that’s all it could be & come celebrate! It was so much worse than we ever could have imagined!
I joining Kristins team & will do everything I can to help her & raise awareness around kidney disease! I need my BBF 😘
And in her words -
April this year I was hospitalised and diagnosed with kidney disease. My kidneys were functioning at 5%.
Kidney disease is a silent killer. Unless you know you have it, you will not get any symptoms until your kidneys are at a 10% function.
I spend 60 hours on dialysis a week, and I'm currently active on the Australian transplant list.
I would love you to join my team and help find a cure for kidney disease. Currently transplant and dialysis is only a treatment.
By running, walking, or riding 60km I want to raise awareness of the 60hrs that people affected by kidney disease need to spend on dialysis each month.
Please donate to my page to raise funds for research into life-saving treatments, and provide support to the families of the 66 Australians that lose their life each day to kidney disease.
YOU can make a difference – Join me and help create a future where kidney health is a priority for all Australians.
