My dad, Eric, was the bravest man I have ever known. He battled various health complications for years, including dialysis for end stage renal disease. Dad received a kidney transplant in 2011 but suffered complications following early kidney rejection and scarring. Following his transplant, Dad was immunocompromised and vulnerable to severe infections, that would often result in hospitalisation.
He raised my two brothers and I as a
single parent, whilst battling many health complications due to his chronic kidney
disease. Never once did he complain. He raised me with love and instilled
within me the values that I still hold dear today. I am so lucky to have had
such a positive male role model in my life, and feel privileged to have had a
Dad who was so empathetic, caring and kind. He gave the world to my brothers and I, all whilst struggling himself.
Dad died from COVID in June 2022.
He was 67 years old.
In my Dad’s memory, I am raising money for Kidney Health Australia. I will be shaving my head (yes, pictures to come) to raise funds for the foundation. I ask you to please donate to this important cause, with all proceeds going to Kidney Health Australia.
There are over 25,000 people in Australia living with kidney failure, including people very close to me. There is no cure. Dialysis or a kidney transplant are needed to stay alive.
I’m fundraising to help transform the future of kidney disease. Please support me and help fund vital services and research to ensure those affected can live their best lives. It would mean the absolute world to me and my Dad, if you were able to donate.
