My Red Socks Run for Kidney Health
This October, I’m going to Red Socks Run as life depends on it.
By walking 32km, I want to raise awareness of the 32hrs that my mother spends on dialysis each month, and the many others who spend up to 60hrs, or more, on dialysis each month to stay alive.
For most patients, especially in rural and remote areas, getting to their nearest dialysis centre requires significant travel. With limited facilities available, this journey can extend an already exhausting day, adding to their physical and emotional burden.
On average, a dialysis session lasts four hours and is repeated three times a week, often for years, until the patient receives a kidney transplant. It’s a demanding routine which requires adequate support and resources for individuals and their families.
Please consider donating to my page to raise funds for research into life-saving treatments, and provide support to individuals and families affected by kidney failure.Â
Your support can truly make a difference - Join me and help create a future where kidney health is a priority for all Australians.
