Calling all Renal Units...
We want to invite your renal unit to take part in the Red Socks Renal Unit competition pitting unit against unit in the race to win the Red Socks Renal Unit Shield.
This year there's the option to do things a little differently. We're introducing Walk The Ward. If it's difficult to log your kms as a team outside of work due to rostering and personal commitments, you can still compete this year. Walk The Ward works much like the original Red Socks Run, however instead of tracking your Km's over the month, you track your steps every shift you work and enter a total step count at the end of each shift.
Set up a goal for steps over the month as an indivual and as a team, build a leaderboard at work and start some friendly competition to see who comes out on top at the end of October!
If you prefer the original challenge, you're still very welcome to enter as a unit and track your kms together too.
Who’s competing? We’re inviting renal units around Australia to form a team and fundraise with the aim to raise as much money as you can to fight kidney disease. Whoever raises the most money is the winning team.
What do we win? The one and only Red Socks Renal Shield, with your renal unit’s name engraved to proudly display in your unit until the 2024 Red Socks Run and a special morning tea hosted by Kidney Health Australia.
How do we fundraise?
- Organise a Socks Sale and raise vital funds through selling Kidney Health Red Socks. Register your unit to create a fundraising page and contact redsocks@kidney.org.au to receive your unique code to track your sales.
- Take on the Red Socks Run - whether it's the distance travelled, or total step count on shift in Walk the Ward, set your unit an achievable challenge and encourage your community to sponsor them.
How long is the competition? The competition runs until November 1st, so we ask all fundraising to be finished by then. From that date, we will know who has raised the most money and will select the winner.
