My Red Socks Run for Kidney Health
This October, I’m going to Red Socks Run as life depends on it.
My focus for this walk - Polycystic Kidney Disease, it’s shit. It will slowly deteriorate you over time until renal failure.
I’m one of the lucky ones that has a kidney transplant plan (cheers siblings).
& thankfully my Mum had a cousin come forward to offer her a kidney when hers were sitting at an eFGR of 9% function.
My Mum’s Mum wasn’t so lucky - she was on dialysis for many years and died from a stroke linked with the dialysis/PKD when my mum was a teenager.
There are many that will go into renal failure and instead face 60+ hours of dialysis a week for the rest of their lives.
By running, walking, or riding 60km I want to raise awareness of an organ that doesn’t get enough attention.
Please donate to my page to raise funds for research into life-saving treatments, and provide support to individuals and families affected by kidney failure.
YOU can make a difference – Join me and help create a future where kidney health is a priority for all Australians.
