My Red Socks Run for Kidney Health
This October, I’m walking for every person living with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). On average, a person with end stage CKD spends 60 hours per month on dialysis to stay alive. My goal is to walk 60kms per week to raise awareness and move towards a future without dialysis.
I have been living with end stage CKD and having dialysis for the past 4 years. Although I was determined not to let CKD stop me from living a great life, there are certain challenges and limitations that are unavoidable.
I was lucky enough to receive a kidney transplant in March this year, and I am now free from dialysis. Words can’t explain how incredible this new found freedom feels, but it has been a long road to get here!
There are currently over 15,000 Australians on dialysis, and that number is rising. That’s why urgent action is needed now - to slow the progression and ultimately stop it.
Every dollar raised, every km logged, every step we take brings us closer to a future without dialysis.
Please donate to support a better future for people with kidney disease.
