Red Socks Run 2024

My Achievements

Pam's Red Socks Run for Kidney Health

In 2021 I was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. Unbeknownst to me, my kidneys had lost 50% of their function. I had no symptoms. My GP just happened to order the blood test while investigating unrelated symptoms.

And yet I consider myself lucky. Most signs of kidney disease go unnoticed until the kidneys are close to failure. 1.8 million Australians are unaware they’re living with signs of kidney disease.  Thanks to early diagnosis and intervention, my kidney function has improved but will never be fully regained.

This October, I’m going to Red Socks Run as life depends on it.

By walking and riding 60km I want to raise awareness of the 60hrs that people affected by kidney disease need to spend on dialysis each month.

If you have a few dollars to spare, please donate to my page to raise funds for research into life-saving treatments, and provide support to individuals and families affected by kidney failure.

3 in 4 Aussies are at risk of kidney disease.  Take a few minutes to complete the kidney risk test and get your loved ones to check their risk too!
