Red Socks Run 2024

My Achievements

My Red Socks Run for Kidney Health

This October, I’m going to Red Socks Run as life depends on it.

By running, walking, or riding 60km I want to raise awareness of the 60hrs that people affected by kidney disease need to spend on dialysis each month.

Please donate to my page to raise funds for research into life-saving treatments, and provide support to individuals and families affected by kidney failure.

YOU can make a difference – Join me and help create a future where kidney health is a priority for all Australians.

I'm married to a Chronic Kidney Disease Warrior who has been battling kidney disease since the age of 12. He has been through it all, every day is a constant battle against this non curable disease.
Already in his 43yrs the amount of time he has spent at Drs appointments, hospital stays, dialysis in the renal unit and at home, 3 live transplants, the amount of needles & tests he has had to endure is unfathomable.
I have supported him through it all. It's very difficult to watch a loved one go through the ups & downs knowing there is no cure.
We are blessed to have had 4 beautiful children together. They too have had a life of watching Dad be a warrior, its made our children grow to be very compassionate & resilient people.
We cannot thank our live kidney donors enough for the opportunity to spend quality family time together, without the need of a dialysis machine to keep him alive.
He was lucky to receive the 1st transplant at 17yrs old from his 1st cousin in 1997. The 2nd Transplant in 2009 from his Mum (when our 3rd child was only 6weeks old) and his 3rd transplant in 2020 from an anonymous donor in The Paired Kidney Exchange Program, where I donated my kidney to the bank so we could receive a matching kidney back as I was not compatible to donate directly to my husband.
Through everything life has thrown at him, he never complains. He just gets on with it & lives life to the fullest, making beautiful memories with our family to treasure.
